Willie Mae Foster departed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Duke Regional Hospital. She was born in Durham, North Carolina on June 16, 1955, to the late Irene Foster Brown and Willie Stroud Holeman.
Willie Mae always had a passion for learning something new. She attended Durham Public Schools. After completing high school she attended Deshazor's Beauty College, Durham Technical Community College in Pharmacy Technology and Early Childhood Development. During her time she had an opportunity to work in several capacities before becoming ill. Her career included: Hair Stylist, Pharmacy Tech at Duke Hospital, Security at North Carolina Mutual, Bus Driver at North Carolina Central University and a teacher at Russell Memorial Daycare.
Willie Mae never met a stranger. She had a great sense of humor and was a fun person to be around. She always had her way of making you laugh. She enjoyed helping people, playing games on her phone, shopping online and doing creative braided hair styles for her grandchildren.
Her memories will be cherished by her lifelong partner (Samuel Mitchell) and her son Mario Foster, of Durham; Sisters: Glorious Foster, of Hampton VA; Beverly Holeman, of Ellenwood GA; Sandra Foster and Diane Foster, of Durham; Granddaughters: Saqundra Williams, Schianna Foster, Jalicia Foster, Janisha Foster, Grandson: Michael Page Jr., Marquis Foster, Tahlil Jackson Foster, Tristian Foster, Zyaire Joseph; and a host of great grandchildren, relatives and dear friends who were instrumental in her life.
She is preceded in death by: daughter Yaschica Foster Page and stepson Junious Mitchell, of Durham; Sisters: Barbara Nelson, of Chesapeake VA; Brenda Foster, Valor Mack, Ella Holeman-Moore, and Sherrie Whitley, of Durham; Brother: William Stroud Foster, of Durham.
