Thomas Stroud Lunsford, was born on December 3, 1936 in Durham, N.C. to the late George (PapPap) Lunsford and Annie Parker Lunsford. He fought a short but hard battle with cancer and departed this life on March 21, 2021 in his home in Durham, NC.
“Stroud”, as he was affectionately called, was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Accepting Christ as his personal savior, he joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bahama, NC. Stroud attended Little River School in Bahama, NC and called Durham his home.
Stroud was a laborer. He worked for D&H Construction for several years before retirement. Later in life, he worked at North Carolina Central University for a few years before retirement as well. He was a very dedicated and hard-working man. While not working, Stroud enjoyed fishing, hunting, plants and visiting his great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends in the country. He especially enjoyed the game of dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Lela and Annie Bell Lunsford, Bessie Lunsford Mangum, and brothers Eddie Melvin, Jessie Lunsford and Sterling Lunsford. His daughter, Cheryl Laws and special friend Nannie (Peggy) Laws. He leaves to cherish his memory Sherricca and Sherrod Laws (Grandchildren), 5 Great- Grandchildren, Hazel Lunsford Roper (sister), all of Durham NC., 15 nieces, 11 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
