John Wall Obituary

John Ras Wall, Jr. was born on May 4, 1942, to the late John Ras Wall, Sr. and Magnolia Sue Wal in Durham, NC. John Jr., as he was affectionately called, gained his heavenly wings on January 27, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

John J.r was educated in the Durham Public School System. He was a great man, and he loved his family. He left school to go to work to support his family. He began working in construction at the age of 14. He started working with Wrenn Wilson Construction Company until they closed. He was such a great carpenter and had such great craftsmanship that he was recruited to come work for Lutz Construction Company until he retired at the age of 70.

John J.r loved people, he loved to serve, he loved gardening and most of al he loved his family. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the beach. He was known for planning family trips to Myrtle Beach, CS for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was a strong man of very few words... But when he spoke it was loud and clear. John had a funny sense of humor. He loved to have fun and cut up with those he knew!!!! He was known for being the instigator of the family. He always kept some- thing going!

John Jr. wore many titles: son, brother, dad, husband, granddad, uncle and cousin, but the most important title was Child of God. John J.r was a strong man of faith and gave his life to Christ at an early age. John Jr. started his Christian journey at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later joined Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and van driver for many years. He later joined Pilgrim Baptist Church where he sang in the male choir. In 1995, he joined the Word of Faith Church where he served as a Deacon and van driver until his health failed.

John Jr. married the love of his life, Brenda Jean Wall, on May 27, 1967. John and Brenda Jean were married for 3 years until her death in 2000. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Reginald Wall, Errica Wall, and Henry Joseph.

John J.r later married his best friend Rosa Lee McCollough and the two have been married for 23 years. John J.r was preceded in death by his parents John Wall, Sr. and Magnolia Wall, his sister, Nolene Wall, his wife, Brenda Jean Wall, his brother-in-law/best friend, Issac Nesmith, his brother-in-law Freddie Roundtree and sister-in-law, Willie Denise Studdivant.

John Jr. leaves to cherish his legacy and loving memory, his wife: Rosa Lee Wall of the home, three children: Reginald Wall and Errica Wall of Durham, NC and Henry Joseph (Shawna) of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren: Brittany Chavis, Makayla Cattis and Taraji Wall of Durham, NC and James and Kaiden Joseph of Raleigh, NC; one great-granddaughter, Yadira Gattis of Durham, NC; five siblings: Lizzie Petty, David Wall, Brenda Williams (Bernell), Mary Fletcher all of Durham, NC and Shirley Mar- kham (Harry) of Timberlake, NC; two sisters-in-law, Deloris Nesmith and Ida Roundtree of Durham, NC and one brother-in-law, Roosevelt McCollough, Jr. of Durham, NC, Special Companion: Kobe, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
