Jennifer Ruth Ruffin

Jennifer Ruth McAdoo Ruffin (Jenny Ruth) was born November 5, 1962, at Duke Hospital to Mr. James McAdoo, Sr. and Rev. Vernell McAdoo of Efland, NC. The Lord peacefully called her home on June 25, 2023. Jennifer attended Orange Senior High School where she graduated in 1982. She then went to further her education at Elizabeth City State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in May of 1986. Upon receiving her degree, she began her career at Central Carolina Bank. She worked for several years at UNC Hospital and Duke Hospital. Later in her career she worked at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School System. Jennifer enjoyed cooking and baking. She also loved listening to her country music and fellowshipping with family and friends. Jennifer loved going to church and could frequently be found at multiple services in one Sunday. While she was a member of Greater Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, she was also a faithful supporter of Grace Outreach Ministry, and a regular participant on the Tuesday Morning Power Surge. Jennifer leaves to cherish her memory her mother and father James McAdoo Sr. and Rev. Vernell McAdoo of Efland, NC; one son, Dominique Ruffin, of Efland, NC; one brother, James McAdoo II of Wilmington, NC; three stepchildren, Allen Ruffin of Hillsborough, NC, Tonya Ruffin of Mebane, NC, and Bobbi Ruffin-Alston (Joshua) of Mebane, NC; five grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews (who were all her “favorite”); relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son John Sanders McAdoo and her beloved husband, Bobby Ruffin.
