Willie Mae Hart

Mrs. Willie Mae Hart, (83), daughter to the late Brogden Smith and Lucy Mae Clegg was born January 4, 1936 in Durham, North Carolina. She departed this life at her home on Thursday, November 14, 2019. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Willie Mae was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Lottie Mae Russell; 2 nieces, Geraldine Peace and Delores Lee; 2 grandchildren; Timothy Little and Tommie Clegg, Jr.; and 1 great-grand child, DeMonte Cissell.

Mrs. Willie Mae retired from Maxim Healthcare Services after many years of service. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and a long-time member of Greater Joy Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Mrs. Willie Mae was the “matriarch” to the family that most called, “ma-ma”. Her greatest love was spending time with her husband of 53 years, her sister, her son, her granddaughter, DeWanda that she raised since age 2 and her other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Willie Mae is survived by her husband, Paul Hart; son, Tommie Clegg (Kim); sister, Veola Waller; brother, Tyrone Smith; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Parks; 4 grandchildren, DeWanda Burrus (Derek), Derrick Johnson, Tammie Clegg and Tony Clegg; 11 great-grandchildren, Darrin, Britney, JaQuan, Tara, Taylor, Shawnna, Amaya, William, Jacqueline, Dekari, and Kyvontae; 4 great-great grandchildren, Dhi’Quaze, Faith, Kamiya, and Jaliyah; 5 nieces, Catherine McNeil (Mike), Beverly Reams, Dori Parks, Amelia Hart and Pamela Hart; 3 nephews, John Sam Scarlett, Benny Hart, Alexander Hart and an abundance of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends.
