Mr. Dennis Wayne Peaks, son of the late J.C. and Mary Peaks was born June 7, 1953 at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC. He departed this walk of life on June 26, 2019 at Duke Hospice after an extended period of declining health.
Dennis graduated from Rockville High School in Rockville, MD in 1971. Dennis loved sports, especially basketball, where he played in high school and coached for local camps in the Durham area in his young adult life. Dennis was also one of the first black lifeguard at Long Meadow Pool. He worked along with his father for over 20 years at Spiniello Construction underground Pipe Lining. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing cards, doing magic tricks, playing checkers and dominos. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren whenever he could.
Dennis is survived by his ten children, Dennis Woodard, Callina McDonald, Sellina Reeves (Lee), Kimberly Cooley, Antonio Davis, Alysia Solomon (Durand), Nedra Cates, Denise Lewis (Kenneth), Juliana Bowers (Patrick) and Sharkita Beasley; two sisters, Dianna Peaks, Apostle Terry L. Peaks-Cash (Willis), two brothers, William Haskins (Angela), Kenneth Peaks and one brother in law, John McNair, 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by four of his siblings, Anthony Peaks, Julia De-Heer, J.C. Peaks, Jr. and Overseer Shelia McNair.
