Ada Helen McQueen Johnson was born August 7, 1949 in Parkton, North Carolina to the late Bessie and John Allen McQueen. Helen, as she was affectionately called, departed this life on Sunday, June 9, 2019.
Helen attended Hillside High School in Durham, NC. Helen received Christ at an early age.
Although Helen worked in various jobs, her greatest joy came from being a mother to Myra and PJ and being a homemaker.
On June 30, 1984, Helen married the love of her life, Roy L. Johnson. Helen knew that if she wanted anything, all she had to do was make her wants be known to Roy and he would do anything within his power and or reach to please her. Helen and Roy would have celebrated thirty-five years of marriage on June 30, 2019.
Helen leaves to cherish her memories: Husband, Roy L. Johnson of the home; Children: Daughter Myra Jean McGhee-Pittman (Anthony), Son, Plymouth “PJ” York McGhee, Jr. (Donna); Special niece, Jeanette Bailey (John), all of Durham, NC. Grandchildren: Jermiah Jones-McGhee, Sandra Williams, JaVonta Harris, and Glenn Bernard; God-children: Tina Burton-Perry and Shonda Williams. One great-granddaughter, Riley Symone. Four sisters: Mary “Maggie” Magdalene Ray (Willie) of Philadelphia, PA., Mary “Monk” Alice Bailey (Johnny) of Hillsborough, NC, Princena “CB” Erwin, Philadelphia, PA, Jean Verlene Bagley, Timberlake, NC. Helen’s only brother, John Chester “Pappy” McQueen preceded her in death. Sister-in-law, Margaret Umstead (Amos) of Durham, NC, Brother-in-laws, Edgar Johnson (Rosa) of Rougemont, NC and James Johnson (deceased). One Uncle, Wilbert McQueen of Fayetteville, NC. A host of nieces and nephews, one deceased nephew, Michael “Tony” Bagley, all of whom she adored and loved mightily and a host of other family members and friends.
